Amazing Steve. I can see so much history in those buildings. I see you didn't try any of the creative shots in the mirror or fairing. Doesn't matter. Still great photos.

Steve, these are great photos of my favourite place in England. I still vividly remember The Wool Hall.

This has to be the finest example of a Cotswold town . I'm going to return early one morning when no one is about , so I can take a proper look !! Steve

Okay Steve, now this thread is just plain cool. Really a great exercise in shooting buildings and interesting architecture! Every shot is really fantastic!
![]() Now this may be a dumb question, but what is this roof made of? Just looks cool. Thick.

Re: A trip to Chipping Campden , Gloucestershire
Tim,
Thanks for your compliments . That roof is called a thatched roof , and there are many fine examples around here , some dating back to the 19th century , others more modern , as this practise still takes places today [ you need special insurance for your roof , but these days the materials used can be treated to minimise the danger of fire ] ............ here is a better explanation .......... http://www.buildingconservation.com/...f/thatchrf.htm Chipping Campden has to be my favourite place around here , you are just bombarded with fine architecture wherever you look - I particularly enjoy visiting out of season , when you can stroll around all on your own , without having to battle the many tourists who visit this gorgeous little market town . Steve

Re: A trip to Chipping Campden , Gloucestershire
Great link Steve, thanks! Over here, ya run over to the building supply store, order a truckload of asphalt shingles, get a bunch of tar paper, a good nail gun and go to town. Your history and architecture never ceases to be a source of interest!
