Alaska pics... Matanuska Glacier

Well, still no streetable bike. I just got a DSL connection though, so I figured I owe you all a few pics of Alaska. My parents are here visiting from CA, and we took them up to the Matanuska Glacier - the largest one accessible by road in the world. So in no particular order, here are seven pics of the glacier itself and the scenery in the area.

Re: Alaska pics...

I love it! With extensive training that is required before a deployment, I haven't had as much time as I'd like to get out and look around. I love what I've seen so far though. I already have scoped a few choice sections of road to try out on two wheels.

I'm heading to the "sandbox" in a few weeks though, so those rides will have to wait until I return next year.

Re: Alaska pics...

Beautiful pictures Matt. I am glad that you have at least gotten out to see some of the countries most unspoiled territory. What a beautiful state!

Take good care of yourself over in the sandbox!! What out for litter...
cheers,
d

Re: Alaska pics...

Be sure to return home safely from the middle east. You will have to have Mrs. Toyuzu keep us updated as to how things are going for you. Keep a positive attitude and things will work out for the best. Cheers to you!

Say hi to Ben when you swing through!

The pics are amazing - just like I remember. Amazing how close up you can get to the glacier here. Terrific shot Matt!

Re: Alaska pics...

Thanks Donna! How are you liking the Sprint so far? Can I ride it?

Chris - I will try to get Mrs. Toyuzu to keep everyone updated as much as possible. She'll be checking her e-mail more frequently while I'm gone looking for messages from me, so any private messages (hint, hint. ) will be sure to catch her attention.

Re: Alaska pics...

Tim - you can actually go out and hike around on the glacier itself. It's pretty cool - you just have to be careful. There are some pretty deep crevasses that you wouldn't want to slip in to.

Matt,
Fabulous photos ................ they really give a sense of the vast expanse of the place !!

Take it easy when you ride in that great terrain .

Re: Alaska pics...

Matt: good to see you out and about and posting photos again. From the photos, it looks like the fall colors have already arrived. I think winter is just around the corner for you there. Those are beautiful photos. I am sure everyone here would like to see more before you leave.

This year, the summer riding hasn't been the same without you participating in the rides. And, we've done so many rides in your backyard of the Oakhurst area. take care of yourself and that young family of yours.
