You coming to the fall gathering? If so, I'm gonna want to check out the set up you have.

Re: Apple iPod

I took a little different path. I have a San Disk with all the shuffle and play list features that ran $60.00 Uses 1 AAA battery, holds about 120 songs. Volume is fine with helmet speakers or earbuds.

This past winter I was returning from Vegas and got caught in a big storm. Snow, hail and rain from Vegas to LA. Had my Joe Rocket gear on, weather proof liner on the inside. SanDisk was in the outer jacket pocket and my focus was on getting home not tunes. A couple hours into the ride the tunes ended and I wasn't stopping for anything. Arrived home to discover the unit completely filled with water. Took it out of its little case, removed the battery, shook out as much water as possible, used a blowdrier on Cool for a few minutes then set it in a sunny window for two days. Installed new battery, good as new and still going strong. These days I keep a couple ziplock bags handy!

Then I also have a portable XM Radio. Was mounted to the triple but in a couple months of riding the headset plug connection was failing from the impact and vibration of the sportbike suspension. Got a new one and it lives in the map pocket of my tankbag. Makes it easy to select stations, mute, adjust volume etc. while on the go. Volume is low on the slab so that little amp David posted is on the Christmas list.

Ditto.

The chatterbox connectors are the same as computer PS2 cables so I bought a PS2 extension cable and cut/wired it to fit the mini plug from my mp3 player. Now I can use the speaker system from the chatterbox during the times I ride with just the player and not the chatterbox.

Re: Apple iPod

All very interesting stuff here first time post for me and I will say riding an 02 busa after purchasing all my riding gear before I got the bike I new i needed tunes right away. I have gone thru 4 mp3 players and can say a flash base memory player is the best. Ribration from any motorcycle will eventually will cause the harddrives to fail. As for ear buds I use the Sony brand that wrap around the ear(9.99 @ Target) and only use one so i can still hear traffic and commuters tell me how cool my bike is Dont always use the same ear and keep the volume down to avoid perminate damage.

Re: Apple iPod

Well I got the iPod today and I gotta say so far I like it! Now I'm waiting on the helmet speakers from Helmet audio to show up and I can try out the whole package! And since I adjusted the volume level to max I don't know for sure if I'm gonna need the booster. Guess I'll have to wait to find out for sure.

Not sure yet, if I do I will have to find a room close by (Don't sleep on the ground anymore). I'll post up some pics, have my Chatterbox in my tank bag with the Ipod and a cord that runs to my helmet.

Re: Apple iPod

Well I got the helmet speakers today. Nice compact and easy to install. Just have to get use to something that close to my ears. Now for the bad news. Lets just say the Boostaroo is on order. I put the helmet on with no ear plugs, started the bike in the garage with the garage door open and I could hardly hear the music from the iPod, even with it at full volume. I also figured if I was getting the Boostaroo, I may as well order another set of helmet speakers for my GF helmet. When I get the booster, I'll try it out and let ya'll know how it works out.

Re: Apple iPod

UPDATE: Took my GF for a ride this evening to go to dinner. Rode from Quincy to Blairsden to have dinner at the Grizzly Bar and Grill. Used the iPod on the way there with it turned up full and could tell there was something playing in my ear but couldn't quite make it out. On the way home I tried a different type of music, I played a jazz album, all instrumentals, no lyrics, and I could hear most of it, but not quite all. The really quiet parts were inaudible. So I'm waiting on the booster to see if that will be any better. I also figured out I want to keep my iPod in the map case of my tank bag. It's a bit of a pain with it in my jacket pocket.

Re: Apple iPod

I have helmet speakers too, and I can hear them just fine! In fact, I have to turn the Ipod down!!!

I don't remember the brand but the lady that sells them is a member here!! Maybe she will chime in, although it is probably to late, but you might decide to try different speakers!!
