Re: Sierras in September: A Pashnit Ride of Elevated Proportions

Looks like a blast as usual!!! I was in Bodie as a kid but have wanted to return after seeing your pix on this site, Tim. These found in this post have me planning a trip there, what GREAT shots!

Next year, I think i have to join you on a tour. I am trying to talk Renee into attending as well, so we can ride sweep together, but heck by next year we could move to the front of the pack....

Thanks Tim, for yet another "pashnit" journey!!

cheers,
d

Re: Sierras in September: A Pashnit Ride of Elevated Proportions

Boy Tim, you really know how to whet the appetite for a great ride. It is so much fun to view a ride through others eyes and descriptions. You certainly have a wonderful way of shooting and describing these rides.

Ebbets, Sonora, Monitor, Little Dragon and the list is endless........DELICIOUS! Makes me hungry for a ride Tim.

As you stated earlier (Colors are changing) so I know where we will be heading soon.

Thanks for taking the time to make us hungry........Ken

Thanks for sharing Tim, looks like a fun trip. I'm trying to clear my schedule at some point in the future and take a tour with you. Great pictures as usual!

Great trip, Tim & Tim

Anyone: Note that south of Minden/Gardnerville there is a dirt road shooting off 395 called--

Leviathan Mine Road.

Anyone been on it? Does it go there? Does it connect with 89/4 without going over gated property?

Curious Mindlessnesses wanna know

Re: Sierras in September: A Pashnit Ride of Elevated Proportions

Jim - there's a sign pointing north along the summit on Monitor Pass pointing to Leviathan Mine. Can't be missed. However, not sure about your one connecting down the east side of the Sierras to Hwy 395. Also always wanted to run up to the Fire Watch Tower at the top of the mountain that you can see as you ride up the road. I think there someone may have posted pics of it previously.

Only thing I recall with regards to the Leviathan Mine is John (Far_Fast) may have mentioned it before. What I find interesting is you can clearly see it on the satellite 3-D maps, but the resolution of that part of the Sierra Nevada is poor.

Beautiful photos as always Tim. One of these days (soon) I'll be signing up for a ride. Looks like too much fun to pass up.

Looks like an interesting town. I'm sure the locals (all 3 of 'em) have got some great stories too. Would be neat to sit down and share a meal and some conversation. May have to add this to the list of "must do's" for next year. After Alaska, of course :-D

Cheers!

Btw, Vince sent me this cool pic of Yours Truly along Hwy 108 - Sonora Pass. Always in search of that magazine cover shot.

What I look like when I'm in costume.

Thanks Vince.

Re: Sierras in September: A Pashnit Ride of Elevated Proportions

Awesome ride report and pics as usual Tim. A big smile broke out as I viewed the Sierra pass photos. Looks like you had a fun bunch of riders and primo route. Hope to join you on a Pashnit tour next year.
