Monument Valley, Canyon De Chelly - Arizona Motorcycle Ride

My younger brother was out from DC and my parents came out from California for a visit, with bikes in tow. My Father has never seen Monument Valley, well, none of us had, so we headed up there to check it out. While we were up there we decided to check out Canyon De Chelly as well. The infamous, barely photgraphed HWY 191 was a possibility, but on the way back we axed it due to the additional six hours it would add to the trip back. Our route up was plenty straight, up I-17 to 89 to 160 to Kayenta, but with lack of leaning came plenty of scenery. Northeastern Arizona is absolutely amazing!

If you aren't on a high plateau with a hundred mile view, you are in a canyon with sheer rock faces surrounding you. The ride back was just as scenic following the eastern border of Arizona down to I-40, then a trip back down 60 through Salt River Canyon was the highlight of twisties, but this trip was about filling your head with pictures than scrubbing parts of your bike. Enjoy the pictures.

These are pics of I-17, 89 past Flagstaff and HWY 160

How cool is that!! A family outing on Bikes... What a great way to spend some time together. I love Aridzona, and your shots brought back wonderful memories of our last trip through the state.

Thanks for sharing!

Cheers

Great pictures! I grew up in Flagstaff but it has been many, many years since I've been through the reservation and into Monument Valley. It is time to go back!

Nice photos. You guys didn't stop at 4 corners? I have to agree with you, the desert scenery of the area is amazing.

Re: Monument Valley, Canyon De Chelly

Excellent Jason. I didn't realize it was so green at the bottom of the Canyon. Amazing...

Great, yet another one to add to my list of must see places.

Thanks for sharing your family outing with us. Good stuff!
