Re: Introductions - Introduce yourself here...

First off I'd like to thank my brother, the SWANKSTER, for turning me onto this site. I remember the old days of riding our Suzuki's around and occasionally crashing. Thank god we get older and wiser and can live to tell about it. I started riding in 1979 on a Suzuki GS425. I moved up to a Suzuki XN85 650 Turbo in 1983 and a BMW K100RS after that.

I became an officer in 1983 and worked my way up to a traffic officer riding a Kaw. K1000. I was promoted to Traffic Sergeant and, because Kaw. stopped producing the K1000 police model in 2005, we went to the BMW R1200RT-P. What a fantastic motor. It's not that the HD and Honda are not fit for the job, but, rather the BMW is an all around high speed performance machine that is nimble and responsive and very maneuverable at low speeds.

Thanks again to the SWANKSTER.

Re: Introductions - Introduce yourself here...

Hi Everyone,
My name is Mike Allen, and I live in Nebraska and ride an 07 Electra Glide Ultra Classic. At the end of March, I will be visiting for a week in the Palm Springs-Palm Desert area, and thought I could pick up some ideas on where to visit, place to rent bikes and anything else helpful for visitors.

I just recently traded in an 04 XL 1200 Custom for the Ultra and am excited about getting out and getting some miles on the bike.

One other goal in the future is to get out to CA and ride up the coast highway and also ride around through the wine country....

Re: Introductions - Introduce yourself here...

A link to the Little Dragon landed me here today, but I thought to carve a virtual line, too. Quite an impressive site!

With thousands of miles on bikes over three decades, I've traveled mostly in the Northwest, where Destination Highways serves riders' needs. As a native Californian, I'm hoping now to dry out some in my retirement in a couple of years. Pashnit should fit the bill.

I'm glad to be aboard. This place should provide much rainyday entertainment.

I've been to TJ in a car and that was bad enough. The police will even steel from you down there. Read a book about it instead.

Re: Introductions - Introduce yourself here...

Hi there, I reside in MODESTO, CA!!! I ride a 2006 gsxr 1000 blue and white (it is still stock... for now). During the riding season a group of us ride HWY 49 just about every Sunday. It is the best road around here that I am aware of. I really would like to try other twisty roads in my area but through my numerous searches I have come up empty handed.

Is there anyone out there that knows of any good twisty(clean) roads in my area? Any help would end a long search and very much appreciated.
Thanks

Re: Introductions - Introduce yourself here...

I am an S.F. woman, have been riding for some time, need some information about roadside service, i.e. come-get-me-when-I-break-down. I can change the oil in my Yamaha Virago 1100, check tire pressure, keep brake fluid filled -- that's it. Last August, returning from Idaho, I was stranded in Redding for two days. Two days of beautiful roads scrapped while my pet sat in the shop. A fellow motorcyclist suggested "Motorcycle Touring Service," visited the website and it looks quite good. Does anybody have any experience with such services?

A second question: which cell phone service gets to the places where you are most likely to be stranded? Riding through northwestern Nevada, Cingular was not there for me.

Thanks

Try AAA roadside service for bikes and Verizon for cell
