Re: Introductions - Introduce yourself here...
Hello fellow adventurers.
I just got my first Harley about two weeks ago as a bit of a compromise with my wife (she fears me on a "crotch rocket") and wow, what a fun scoot it's turning out to be. Very very different from my last bike which was a Ducati Monster (RIP). Anyway, I was a fan of this site 5 yrs ago when I had said Monster and now, on my cruiser I can actually partake in this wonderful activity rather than living vicariously through you folks. Name's Jay, I'm 35 and I'm in search of Californias best slice of pie and will take pictures of the journey. Anyone have suggestions? I'm riding out of Woodland, CA. This is my new ride. I love her. |

Re: Introductions - Introduce yourself here...
Hello community.
My name is Brian and I just returned from a big trip spanning 3,500 miles over the last couple of weeks. A friend recommended I get in touch with this community. I have only been riding for a year. I started searching for "the perfect bike" about 2 years ago. Years before that, I fell in love with the idea of BMW Motorcycles after reading Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance and have toyed with the idea of getting an old BMW ever since. After a lot of research and searching, I found a 1975 (year I was born) R90/6 with the S fairing and the hard shell BMW cases. It was out in Washington, D.C. and I live in Nebraska. After talking to the owner a couple of times on the phone, I decided to buy it. When the weather got nicer, I took the Rider's Edge course on a Thursday - Sunday and got on a plane Monday morning to pick up the bike and ride it back to Nebraska. It's been about the best decision I have made in my life. I just got back from a trip that spanned Nebraska, Kansas, Missouri, Kentucky, Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Mississippi, Louisiana, Texes, Oklahoma and back through Kansas to Nebraska. Learned a ton about the bike and enjoyed every minute of it. Looking forward to reading and sharing more stories and adventures as time goes along. Namaste, Brian |

![]() You've just GOT to put your ride report in the appropriate thread after teasing us like that. Especially as my wife was born in Lincoln, NE and recently road-tripped back to her roots. Sounds like a mega-trip which we all aspire to. Photos? ![]() Stephen |

Particularly with a classic like the r90. Some px and some maintenance reviews.
What have you done to it, what do you propose to buy for it. dc |

Hi there, Tom (TanStar) from Daly City, CA. Learned to ride when I was about 14 and have been riding steady since 1975 and 4 bikes – 1974 Honda 750, a 1980 Honda CB900 Custom for 2 ½ years & 62k miles before the top end let go and 20 years on a 1985 Honda GL1200 Gold Wing.
The wife didn’t want another “back porch/geezer ride”, so that left out another Wing or Yamaha Venture. I was ready to jump brands and would have liked the Royal Star Tour Star Deluxe, but could not swing the payments at the time, so now have a 2005 Yamaha Road Star Silverado, two-tone Tan/Silver, hence TanStar. Been married to my wonderful wife of 21 years. She won’t ride with me anymore due to a fall I took last year and ruptured the tendons in my left knee. She doesn’t trust me being able to balance the bike and the two of us. Also she is not comfortable on the Roady due to the passenger seat/pegs/short sissy bar setup. Don’t have the big bucks to make it more comfortable. In due time. Joined back in 2006 but haven’t really been on the forum much. Been scratching around the edges for a while, checking the routes and wishing I could do one of those rides. Due to work and funds, haven’t done a lot of long distance riding. Few trips to Nevada, Eureka and Fresno. Most of my riding has been centered around the Sierra Road Riders Association and the local club I belong to with rides around the Bay Area and Central Valley. Came in to see about a different route for our run in August. Looking for a route for all ranges of bikes - Gold Wing trikes, Cruisers, Tourers and Sport with a wide variety of experience. Most of us have been riding for 30 years plus, but abilities do vary. Take care. Shinny side up - rubber side down. Don't ride faster than your Guardian Angel can fly! tanstar |

Nice bike to have less than 10K miles on the clock. Must have been looked after really well. I have a suggestion for the single most cost-effective upgrade that WILL significantly improve your bike's performance. Training. Especially on slow riding skills, curves and defensive riding. Stephen |
