Hey Geno. Yes, I'm at Fort Irwin. I ride a 2006 Hayabusa, but it's set up for touring with hard bags, etc. rather than trying to go ridiculously fast.

Any suggestions? ie... race weekend camping vs. hotel, places highways to see b/f and after. I'm going to be living on my bike for 2 weeks, and I've never done anything like that before. I hope I can handel it!

Re: Introductions - Introduce yourself here...

Hi to all!
My name is Kelly and me and my partner richard are coming over to San francisco on 06 of June from the UK. We are hiring a BMW R1200RT for 17 days.

We are looking to plan a route that will take in CA, Oregan,Idaho, Montan, Utah then back to CA to do the Big sur (wild fires permitting!). I will be the only rider and although I would like to go further south to take in Arizona I am worried about exposure to the sun. Am I right to be worried??

The above plan is flexible and I would be very grateful of any suggestions as to whether you think this is do-able and what routes might be good? We are going to be staying in Motels and travelling light.

I look forward to your responces

Hi Kelly

We did a similar trip last September.

Your best bet is to post a request for help in the 'Travel Advice & Ride Routing' thread as not many people get to see this introductions thread.

Where are you in England?

PS I have been stuck with "Dirty Larry" ever since Eastwood came out with the Dirty Harry movies.

Hey timmyd
You have a condition that is called, "you're not broken, so don't try to fix it". This is obviously a chronic condition. Recommendation, take an apsirin daily in order to maintain the hosting organism.

Re: Introductions - Introduce yourself here...

Hi everyone, my name is Dave, I'm a firefighter in California and I ride a BMW R1200RT. My wife Elizabeth rides with me also. Just got the bike last Sept. Before that I had a street bike about 25 years ago. Have had dirt bikes when young and in high school. Got dirt bikes again about 10 years ago to ride with my kids. I love my BMW. I use it a lot to do errands around town.Makes doing errands fun! Only been on two long trip so far, had a blast. Want to ride up Hwy 1 to Monterey real soon.

Name's Jay, I'm 35 and I'm in search of Californias best slice of pie and will take pictures of the journey. Anyone have suggestions? I'm riding out of Woodland, CA.

This is my new ride. I love her.
Julian Ca. (small town N.E. of San Diego) has some great homemade pie shops, and all the roads leading there are twisty goodness. If you havent been there, better bust out the maps.

Re: Introductions - Introduce yourself here...

Hi all.My name is Allan,I'm 57 and I've been around motorcycles all my life.I live in beautiful Sonoma County, with some of the best riding around.
I rode dirt for most of my life and got the craziness out of my system,on a 1975 Kawasaki KX400.Most of Dad's friends rode BMWs, so for most of my life that was what I wanted. Well, at the beginnig of this year I realized a dream....I purchased a beautiful red 2002 BMW R1150 RT,with only 15,000 miles on it. Everything I wanted in a very dependable and stylish motorcycle.
I got it for my short commute and small day trips, with/without the wife and for running errands around town.Down the road we'll go for some weekend rides. It's a truly incredible machine and I'll have it 'till I die!
Hope to see you all out on the road...
