Re: Introductions - Introduce yourself here...

Hi everyone,
Just introducing myself, name is Lance Shaeffer, I'm from Tri-Cities, Washington. I ride a black, 2005 Ducati 999, I love road riding, the twisties, the people and everything else in between. I will be riding to Laguna Seca this summer, with my two sons, for the third year of Moto GP. Hope to see some of you on the road there and back from Washington.

From Southern California

Hi my name is Larry and I am a recovering bike-a-holic. Its been 12 weeks literately from a very bad accident on a ride from orange county to big bear. Many remember me from other forums and are members here, but I used to ride a 05 Yamaha FJR 1300. I've been an advid explorer on two wheels for only 5 years, but its not how much experience you have, its watching and anticipating the unseen, that makes it a hazard riding our motorcycles. Unfortunately, it was the unseen truck, traveling in my direction, going around a blind right hand sweeper that hit me and ejected me and my bike. If you have the equipment, gear and helmet, you'll save precious recovery time, this time it was a broken hip and a slight separated shoulder. Heres some photos, but warn all viewers it is disturbing, but yes its me.

Accident Photos

On a positive note, I'm recovering slowly, shopping for bikes and planning my summer rides. Located in Laguna Hills in Southern California I hope to encounter new friends here.

I've been riding for over 30 years, and love my '05 FJR. I've used Pashnit in the past, and am rejoining after some time away.

Re: Introductions - Introduce yourself here...

Hi everyone,

My name's Andy. I live in San Jose, CA, and I ride a 2002 BMW F650GS. I've been riding since 2003 but with work (and now law school -- not sure if that makes me more or less of a target on the roads), I don't ride nearly as much as I should.

Wave,
Andy

Yeesh. Gnarly! Last year I got hit with a flying pair of pruning shears up there. I was on my way to a rally at BB and a local guy apexed a corner at the same time as me, with a big pair of shears on top of his SUV! He made the corner, but the shears kept going, straight into my bike. Fortunately, they didn't hit me personally. At a combined speed of 90-100, they would have killed me I think. As it was, they tore up my fuel tank, oil and electric lines, etc. All told, about $3500 in damage. My BMW GS held up though, and with some JB Weld and duct tape, actually got me the 300 miles home after the incident.

I guess they'll have to change the name of the place from Big Bear to Big Beware

Re: Introductions - Introduce yourself here...cheftom

Hi, My name is Tom and I live in San Francisco, ride a 1999 CBR1100XX Blackbird and enjoy sport touring. I am always looking for people who like to do the same and like to get out of town on the weekends. I also like the occasional track day and am searching for a good track bike. Anyone in the area looking for a responsible riding partner, let me know.
