Hello,

My name is Frank. I have been riding motorcycles legally for about 3 years.
I currently ride a 2002 Triumph Tiger 955. Visiting San Fran in August, plan on renting a bike for excursions. Any suggestions?

Frank

Thanks Tim for starting this web-site and my thanks to all of you who have posted, you have increased my knowledge and contributed to my motorcycling skills. I’ve been surfing this site for the past six months; found it useful, informative and friendly, so here I am.
Me:
I’m a military brat that moved every 3 years until 1963 when my dad retired here in Sacramento. My first bike was a 1967 Honda 305 Superhawk. I was a 17 y.o. that knew everything and survived to learn ‘tis not so. My only safety equipment was an open face helmet. Back then you weren’t required to wear one, but I wanted it for the face shield to keep the bugs outta my face. Rode for several years and then off for an all-expense paid tour of Vietnam. Always thought I would get a bike eventually, just didn’t think it would take me this long. I now have a 2004 Yamaha 250vx. The co-worker who owned it new only put on 4,400 miles the six years he had it. I put on an additional 6,000 miles since I got it. I would like to get another bike with more cc’s so long distances would be more comfortable, but there is the matter of money, garage space, wife’s objection, blah, blah, blah. The time is coming though. I’ll probably retire (from my job) and have the time and money. For now I’m satisfied with the little bike.
Thanks again to all of you.

Re: Introductions - Introduce yourself here...

Hello everyone. My name is Greg, I am lucky enough to live on the north coast of California where the riding is awesome. I regularly ride Hwy 36, 299 and the Lost Coast road to Petrolia. My main ride is a 2012 Kawasaki Concours 14 and also own a 2007 Suzuki DL 650 V-Strom. I look forward to meeting some of you and hopefully ride with you as well. Thanks for having me on board.

Curvy Road Re: Introductions

I am planning a three week trip from San Diego to Penticton in BC and back late August, early September 2012. I live in the UK and SW Turkey, my son, Nick, lives in San Diego and has just bought a 2005 Sprint ST for the trip. Nick will ride the first bit with me then I'm on my own till I meet a friend in Penticton.

I like the description of highway 36 so I am thinking of a figure of 8 route. Any suggestions?

Re: Introductions

Hey lrdavison, I'm not sure what kind of figure 8 you want to do but if you are coming up US 101 come to HWY 36 at Alton. This will take you out to HWY 3 then to CA 299 to Weaverville where I usually stop for lunch. After Weaverville head out on 299 back to the coast and US 101 at Arcata. This is a good days ride and a lot of fun. Let me know when you are coming to my area. If it's on the weekend maybe we can ride it together.

Re: Introductions - Introduce yourself here...

hi all Los Angeles based almost senior with a dr650s and a desire to buy a road machine. Lots of past bike, lots of long rides, sort of clean vocabulary and a passtime that if I stated it here, I'd get banned.
