Southern Cali. Tours?

Has there been any interest in the past for some Pashnit tours in S. CA? I am sure you have a large group of riders from the LA or San Diego area that would be interested in your tours but don't want to make the trek up to N. CA.

Just a thought

I talked with Tim about this very idea about a year ago. I'm not putting words into his mouth but here are some of my thoughts from our discussion.

There are a lot of things that come into play to try something like this. The biggest at the moment I think is Tim is very busy with tours most of the year just doing the northern and central Cal tours. Tim does at least 12 tours, planning organizing and participating in them. He's based in northern Cal. Add in all the many many hours of keeping the forum and moto roads up and running. Oh and just for fun add a wife and raising two young children. The man never sleeps!

The other is weather. It's a lot hotter around here (SoCal) during riding season. To schedule months ahead of time during our off or cooler season, the weather is very unreliable and might lead to a lot of cancelled dates at the last minute.

Another obstacle is linking enjoyable backroads for 300 miles a day, a few days in a row. Most people on tours don't want long stretches of slab just to reach the riding area for the day.

To do it, Tim would have to open an operation down here and he is just to hands on for that I think.

Just my 2 cents.

It's worth the extra day or so to ride up to the tour's departure point. Better yet, take two days and just have more riding time. The only regrets you'll have are from realizing that you could have done it sooner.

I ride 500+ miles to meet them.

I'm sure you have, and several others too!

As I mentioned our unpredictable SoCal weather, it was 24 here in LA when I got up at 5am. Everything is frozen solid. Uninsulated water lines broken water everywhere turned to sheets of ice at every intersection. Major slip and slide.

Hoping the sun helps thaw things to get a ride in today.

I thought about it, but I stayed in where it was warm! At least until later in the morning.
