Death Valley

Hello everybody. My name is Kevin and I live in Monrovia California, just east of Los Angeles. I ride a 2004 Victory Kingpin.

My first question is this. I am looking for a link on this site for a overnight ride to Death Valley. Is there a ride posted somewhere here on this site like that?

Hi Kevin!

Welcome to Pashnit.

There's a couple of places you could look (here on Pashnit Forums) for this.

The first would probably be the Road Trip Planning, Advice and Routing area.

You could also post your request for info there.

Another way would be to use the Search Function, found near the top of the page on the button bar.

I'm not sure if your looking for someone who has already posted up plans for a ride to DV... or if your looking for suggestions or past rides there to gather further info?

I would recommend you post up in the Planning section and see what grows from that.

I know of two planned rides to DV in the next couple of months. (neither originated on Pashnit).
One is the ADVrider DVDaze XII gathering.

The other is on SBR... HERE.

Both of these are pretty much open to anyone who wants to join in.

Re: Death Valley

Heya Kevin!!! Welcome aboard. I rode with IntruderCruiser, Sassy, Sonshine, Harterhog, & exwingnut last year to DV. We had a blast! It was cold but a ton of fun & a lot of good laughs.

Count me in.

I think I.C. has a ride there in the works but not sure......

Re: Death Valley

I did a night ride through Death Valley in May and it was incredible. Pitch black and very warm. The only issue I had was with the huge bugs splatting on my visor and some flying creature that hit me so hard it broke the small fairing on my KLR.
Would do it again in a heartbeat. Count me in.

Re: Death Valley

I stay at the Best Western in Lone Pine and just ride into DV everyday from there. There are a multitude of rides from that spot. good fun.

What kind of riding do you do..
This kind:

or this kind?

Gonna camp:

..or stay in one of the areas 'finer' indoor facilities?

If you can be more specific about your wants/needs.. ya come to the right place!
Need routes, or what?

I like Lone Pine too. There's also a Comfort Inn, a couple of cheaper units, and some good places to camp when weather permits.
There's Panamint Springs.. nothing to write home about, with a restaurant/bar/gas station and few motel and camp spaces just West of the park:

Actually, if you can get into the Stovepipe Wells motel in the park itself, it isn't all that much more expensive than running in and out from Lone Pine.... Stovepipe is about $110/night. There's gas/restaurant and a general store there:

The only other motel inside the park is at Furnace Creek, and it's REALLY pricey. Nice, but pricey!

The little town of Shoshone just outside the south end of the park has one motel, the Shoshone Inn. It only has a few rooms. They're comfortable, but that's about the end of the kudos. The CrowBar across the street is a real down-home kinda bar and grill. I kinda like that place, actually:
