MotoComm DSR-100

Remember when your buddy was using a roll of duct tape to affix his video camera to his bike? Obviously somebody said there has to be a better way. And in the last few years, the latest generation of self-contained video recorder systems are available to that very same duct tape guy.

MotoComm offers a complete system using a bullet camera (aka lipstick camera) and a DVR to record to. It comes in a handy compartmentalized case where everything has a place.

Using SD cards, a 1GB card equals about 4 hours of recording time and video is saved in an .avi format and the unit includes 128mb of internal memory that can be used as an MP3 player to store music.

The bullet camera itself slides into a mount, and then slides in between the helmet shell and padding. Easy.

A remote microphone is included that can be mounted in the rear of the bike to record the exhuast note, engine sounds or in the helmet to narrate the ride. Three mounts are included, one that can be affixed to a bolt somwhere, a fairing for example, a RAM Mount style that can be affixed elsewhere (shown here on the rear of the bike), and of course the helmet.

Included are a set of speakers designed for helmets to listen to MP3 music from the DVR when you're not recording the ride. The unit even takes still photos like a normal camera.

The DVR unit is rather small, can be mounted on the bars or cockpit of your bike, is weatherproof and encased in a rugged aluminum housing. An LCD screen provides instant playback and a built in speaker also allows you to listen to what you've recorded.

Another cable that's included is the unit can be plugged directly into a TV for instant playback, or the computer to review and edit recorded video.
