Chimney Rock Road near Paso Robles delivers exactly the kind of riding your brain needs...

Recently repaved, this 15-mile ribbon of asphalt was so fresh when our Pashnit Motorcycle Tours group first hit it, the lines hadn't even been painted yet. What we found was pure magic: perfect pavement and beautifully banked S-curves. Branching off Nacimiento Lake Road just 8 miles west of Paso Robles, the road flows through an undulating landscape that defines the Central Coast Range.

The ride begins with a rhythmic dance through manicured vineyards and towering oak canopies. The smooth surface allows you to settle into a side-to-side flow, following the natural contours of the Santa Lucia foothills. As you push west, the "sophisticated estate" vibe shifts into rugged, golden ranch land. The road’s namesake—Chimney Rock, a dramatic limestone pillar—stands as a silent sentinel over the twisting canyons at the start of the route.

It’s a quintessential Pashnit favorite: one moment you’re admiring world-class vistas, and the next, you’re immersed in a tight rhythm where you can always see the next curve. When you reach Adelaida Rd, keep the momentum going for a few more miles to reach Cypress Mountain Rd. This section double back & is single-lane, and was also recently repaved (Klau Mine used to be really goaty). It circles back to Adelaida. For my dual sport colleagues, Cypress Mountain connects through the range to the legendary Santa Rosa Creek Road leading into Cambria.

For the ultimate loop, double back on Adelaida Rd toward Paso Robles, then head right back out of town on Peachy Canyon Road. It creates a zig-zag route that is, quite simply, pure delight. Ride Willow Creek to Highway 46 and beyond.
