Sequoia National Park

Yes, that’s a tree. One Sequoia tree. And yes, that’s a Buell Ulysses.

The "Tunnel Log" in Sequoia National Park is located on the south side of the park along Moro Rock / Crescent Meadow Road. Depending on when you roll up, it’s either buzzing with tourists or completely deserted. I’ve seen both extremes through the years.

If you make the ride to Sequoia NP, don’t miss the climb to the top of Moro Rock. It’s a massive granite dome at 6,700 feet, offering a perspective very similar to the famous Half Dome in nearby Yosemite with a much easier climb.

Plus, since you’re already there, you have to commit to the super-twisty 5,000-foot descent into Kings Canyon. It is widely considered the deepest canyon in the United States, measured from the surrounding Spanish Mountain peaks down to the Kings River bottom.

Located due east of Fresno, this is one of our favorite late-summer escapes. There’s no better way to leave the triple-digit Central Valley heat behind than by climbing into the cool, giant shadows of the High Sierra.

The Pashnit Motorcycle Tour group is headed here in a few months to check out this massive log & a few other trees- the largest living thing on Earth by volume.
