Peachy Canyon is exactly the place you want to be. For a motorcyclist navigating California’s Central Coast Range, the space between Templeton and San Miguel is a playground of pavement. While these towns sit a scant 14 miles apart as the crow flies, the motorcycle mind naturally demands a detour—stretching that boring straight line into a 60-mile revelry of technical riding.

This south-to-north sequence kicks off on Willow Creek Rd, instantly trading highway monotony for a shaded tree-tunnel canopy. This transitions seamlessly into Peachy Canyon Rd, a ribbon of tarmac that slices through world-class vineyards with tight, rhythm-testing apexes and numerous sharp hairpins. Next up is Adelaida Rd, which eases into sweeping vistas before the route plunges into the remote, rugged character of the single-lane Klau Mine Rd.

From here, the terrain demands total focus. Cypress Mountain Dr serves up a relaxed but narrow, no-center-line run that feels wonderfully isolated, complete with the kind of roller-coaster swoops and whoops that keep your suspension working. The technical feast continues as you rebound onto Chimney Rock Rd back towards Paso Robles, and then onto the crisp, undulating pavement of San Marcos Rd. With recent resurfacing on key stretches of this loop (Peachy Canyon, Adelaida, and Cypress Mountain), the traction is superb. It allows you to fully enjoy an hour-plus of endless curves before dropping into San Miguel for well-earned fuel and an ice cream.

Got time? Head over to the Estrella Warbird Museum just a few miles away—an incredible aviation museum dedicated to the restoration and preservation of military aircraft, vehicles, and memorabilia. Plus, they have tons of vintage race cars. Who knew?!
